Formed in the September of 1974 by Roger Harris following initial work by David Williams the youth were a specially selected force of Portsmouth Grammar School Men (No boys allowed). Subjected to the harshest and most gruelling training regime ever devised (Hornby for Physics was particularly brutal), the successful candidates were awarded a special T-shirt, a slate at The Pembroke and a Party Four of bitter. Initial entry was based on a single question and answer Roger ) Explain the Arrhenius equation, derive it using the calculus. Candidate ) Who the f*** was Arrhenius, bet he drinks weak French lager ? The youth was officially disbanded in Spring 1977. However an 'Odessa' style organisation is said to exist and it is claimed that occasionally groups of ex-youth meet to drink a pub dry and service local babes.
